OVERVIEW

An established nonprofit organization serving children and families is seeking a Director of Development to lead and expand its fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports organizational growth, strengthens community partnerships, and increases philanthropic investment in the organization's mission.
The Director of Development serves as the primary leader of fundraising and special events, working closely with executive leadership, volunteers, board members, and community stakeholders to cultivate meaningful donor relationships and drive sustainable revenue growth. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact by connecting donors to mission-driven work that improves the lives of children and families.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor relationships.
  • Experience planning and executing fundraising events and donor engagement activities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting or participating in a capital campaign.
  • Experience working with volunteer leadership, boards of trustees, and fundraising committees.
  • Familiarity with the Greater Philadelphia philanthropic and nonprofit community.
  • Experience securing corporate sponsorships and major gifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising Strategy & Revenue Growth
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan with measurable goals, timelines, and performance metrics.
  • Build and manage a diversified fundraising portfolio that includes annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, foundation, and community-based donors.
  • Manage a portfolio of donor and prospect relationships through all stages of the fundraising cycle.
  • Support capital campaign initiatives, including donor engagement, stewardship activities, tracking, and reporting.
Events Leadership & Management
  • Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of fundraising events, donor receptions, community gatherings, and signature engagement activities.
  • Develop event strategies that strengthen donor relationships, increase community awareness, and generate revenue.
  • Oversee event budgets, timelines, sponsorship efforts, vendor relationships, volunteer engagement, and logistics.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
  • Design and implement a comprehensive donor stewardship program that fosters long-term engagement and retention.
  • Prepare personalized donor communications, impact reports, acknowledgments, and cultivation materials.
  • Support executive leadership and board members in donor meetings, solicitation strategies, and relationship management.
