OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional to play a key role within a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to serving its community. Reporting to senior HR leadership, the Human Resources Manager will provide both strategic and hands-on support across a diverse workforce, helping to strengthen employee engagement, ensure compliance, and foster a positive workplace culture. The ideal candidate will bring strong employee relations expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to supporting leaders and employees throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance requirements, and human resources best practices.
  • Experience managing employee relations matters, investigations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience within a nonprofit, social services, healthcare, or community-based organization.
  • Experience supporting diverse employee populations in a multi-program environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a trusted HR partner to managers and employees, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, workplace concerns, and HR policies.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, performance management, and separation processes.
  • Conduct and support employee relations investigations, ensuring timely, fair, and compliant resolutions.
  • Coach managers on performance improvement, corrective action, employee development, and conflict resolution.
  • Coordinate and oversee performance review processes, including goal setting and employee development planning.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and applicable funding-source regulations.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of personnel records, HRIS data, I-9 documentation, background checks, and other employment records.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and interpretation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support employee engagement, retention, wellness, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Utilize HRIS systems and reporting tools to track workforce data, generate reports, and provide HR analytics to leadership.
  • Partner with organizational leaders on workforce planning, organizational development, and talent management initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation, and operational efficiency.
