This role offers a unique opportunity to divide your time between the Central Coast office and project sites throughout California, Hawaii, and the Pacific Islands. You will work alongside engineers, commercial divers, construction professionals, and clients on a diverse range of field, office, and shop assignments.

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a versatile Marine Engineer / Commercial Diver who is comfortable working independently and contributing to multidisciplinary teams in dynamic marine environments. You will split your time between engineering design in the office and underwater inspections in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Experience in waterfront or marine underwater inspection.
  • Current ADCI (Association of Diving Contractors International) Commercial Diver certification.
  • Valid dive physical, CPR/First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen provider certifications.
  • Ability to pass a background check to obtain access to military installations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pass an ADCI physical dive exam.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Highway Institute (NHI) Underwater Bridge Inspector certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT status is a definite plus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct below and above-water inspections of waterfront structures, marine structures, and bridges.
  • Develop detailed engineering inspection reports.
  • Perform analysis and design for the repair, rehabilitation, and construction of coastal and marine structures.
  • Create construction and regulatory permitting documents.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other specialized engineering software.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary SE teams.
  • Assist with the maintenance, testing, and preparation of diving and engineering equipment.
  • Operate company forklifts and trucks for shop and field logistics.
  • Travel to project locations in California, Hawaii, and the Pacific Islands as required.
