Position Overview:

As Lead Clinician for Foster Care Services in Virginia, you play a pivotal role in shaping and leading delivery of high-quality clinical services to support the stability and well-being of youth in care. This department head role requires a strategic leader who can provide trauma-informed clinical expertise, offer direct supervision to a small team of clinicians, and ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations. You will also serve as a key consultant and advocate for the program, driving impactful outcomes for children and their foster and bio families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Leadership & Supervision: Provide expert guidance, mentorship, and supervision to clinicians to ensure effective service delivery and adherence to best practices.
  • Trauma-Informed Care: Utilize your clinical expertise to support stable placements through therapeutic services, family therapy, and trauma-informed consultation.
  • Program Compliance: Oversee program documentation and ensure adherence to ORR and licensing requirements.
  • Training & Development: Lead comprehensive clinical trainings for new staff and interns to promote high standards of care and professional growth.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, foster parents, and external partners to ensure coordinated, client-centered services.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide clinical support and guidance during crisis situations, developing long-term treatment strategies for effective intervention.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work OR Master’s or PhD in Psychology, Sociology, or a relevant behavioral science field in which clinical experience is a program requirement; AND 2+ years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience;
  • LCSW Licensure in Virginia or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience with a track record of empowering staff and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clinical writing, public speaking, and the ability to manage a diverse workplace in fast-paced environment.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish (strongly preferred).

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

  • Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Virginia’s foster care system, the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and the U.S. Resettlement and Unaccompanied Children’s Program.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services systems.
  • Experience developing professional growth opportunities for clinical staff.
